Pois, Café - Lisbon

poiscaf3lu0.jpg

Pois, Café is located on Rua Sao Joao Praça, 95. It is near the Sé Cathedral, in the Alfama neighborhood of Lisbon. Started a few years back by two Austrian woman who fell in love with Lisbon while traveling through, the Pois, Cafe has quickly established itself as a Lisbon landmark.

What sets the Pois Café apart is the uniqueness that the Austrians brought with them. By focusing on providing a comfortable atmosphere for their clients, the owners decorated the Pois Cafe in used furniture. This, mixed with their stylish taste, and a combination of simplicity and clutter, the room balances itself in comfort.

When walking through the Alfama, or visiting Lisbon’s Sé Cathedral, relaxing at the Pois Café is a must. Lisbon is a tough city to walk due to all the hills, and the Alfama is no different. You will appreciate the soothing atmosphere the Pois Café offers, and it is also a place where both tourists and locals can be found.

The Pois Café offers a wonderful menu, simple and much different then other Café’s is Lisbon. The shelves are stocked with books in all different languages, and they even have an international assortment on newspapers and magazines.

Anyone traveling to Lisbon should take some time to appreciate what you have seen so far, and the Pois Café is the perfect spot to sit back, relax, look at the 5,000 pictures you made in the digital camera that day, and, to take my advise…order a beer!
