Soccer in Portugal
The Portuguese are extremely passionate about soccer. In Portugal, almost everyone has an opinion about soccer, and their national team. The Portugal soccer team is one of the best in the world, having finished in 4th place in the last World Cup. Their recent success has won them many fans all over the world, not only in Portugal.
The Portugal soccer team hired Brazilian, Luiz Felipe Scolari in 2003, after leading Brazil to win the 2002 World Cup. He led the team to the European Championship final in 2004, where they eventually lost to Greece.
During the UEFA Euro 2008 qualifying round, Portugal finished in second place, securing themselves a spot in Group A. The team will play there first match against Turkey on June 7, 2008.
Portugal has some extremely talented soccer players. The Portuguese sports media coined the phrase “Golden Generation” after a group of players, captained by Luis Figo, and with Portugal’ success at the 2006 World Cup, the new team is dubbed the “Golden Boys,” or “The Next Golden Generation.”
Portugal soccer is an extremely nice style to watch. With players such as Christiano Renaldo, Portugal has shown that they are in fact home to some of the most talented and rising soccer stars. Besides the national team, the club teams in the Portuguese league are amongst the best in Europe. The three teams that dominate the league are Sporting Lisbon, FC Porto, and Benfica. Both Benfica and Sporting play in Lisbon, and the city is divided amongst its fans. I prefer the Portugal lineup for the Euro 2008 than this one. Helder Postiga instead of Makukula. Joao Moutinho instead of Maniche. Let’s hope Portugal win the next Euro 2008 match, Czech-Republic-Portugal tomorrow!

I think that when you provide the names, positions, and club teams of the players of the portugal natinal team, you should also include the number of each player. Many people who play soccer like to have the same number as their favorite player and they cannot know what the number is unless it’s provided
